Analytics Project Templates
Planned
Motivation
Most analytics work starts from a blank page, which means most analytics work starts with re-deriving the same scaffolding: What should a measurement plan contain? What belongs in a dashboard? What checks should every pipeline have before anyone trusts it?
The blank page is where good projects go to die — or worse, where inconsistent ones survive. When every project invents its own structure, the organization pays a tax on every handoff, review, and rehire.
Scope
A small set of templates, each with an example, a checklist, and a short “why” — opinionated enough to be useful, small enough to actually get adopted:
- Measurement plan — decisions, definitions, grain, windows, owners.
- Metrics definition doc — the one-pager that stops “revenue means six things.”
- Dashboard scaffold — hero metric, two supporting metrics, nothing decorative.
- Experiment plan — hypothesis, power analysis, guardrails, stopping rules.
- Pipeline hygiene checklist — freshness, volume, schema, null-rate checks.

What success looks like
A team other than mine uses one of the templates without me in the room — and the resulting document is good enough that I’d have signed off on it.
